A former Provincial Assembly member of Central Province Mr Gabriel Manedika has called on Solomon Islanders to have a sense of responsibility for the future of the country.
“Everyone should be responsible and be wise custodians of the nation and its resources and acknowledge that there will be others coming behind us.
Leaders in private or public settings have responsibilities and they must be faithful to their duties. We have rules, regulations and laws that guards us and must be followed,” he said.
The future of Solomons is in the hands of the elder generation who are our current leaders that hold the future in trust for the next generation. “We cannot pretend we are the owners of the future because we are all getting old,” Manedika said.
We must nurture and guard our development and that we cannot see progress in the development of our nation when we provide services for our own personal interests.
He appeals to our leaders and all members of the leading generation to rethink on their processes and make new plans based on the concept of guardianship rather than ownership.
Campaign Manager of People’s Alliance Party (PAP) Sir Allan Kemakeza is calling on the nation to be careful on which Party to vote comes during election mid of the year.
Sir Allan made the call during the PAP launch its 2010 election platform at Honiara Hotel yesterday. Speaking on the previous performance PAP has archived such as bring in RAMSI in July 2003 to restore law and order it speaks loud and clear for people must vote for PAP.
He said its time for; voters have to be critical on which party has done something for the country, PAP has achieved political stability from 2001 to 2004 when 21 candidates won and it is first time for a Prime Minister to complete his tenure in Office.
Sir Allan explain people need to learn from the political developments in the this 8th parliament that manifests political instability in which Solomon Islands has three Prime Minister but PAP in 2001 to 2004 it is historic for my government to achieve political stability.
“Put and end of voting parties that never live stability” he said. Now many political parties are formed but be careful because some of this party only exists at the eve of the general elections but PAP remain in solidarity since its inception in September 1978.
In 2001 our motto our theme is vote PAP to save the nation and we did in 2003 RAMSI intervened to Solomon Islands to restore law and order and the 2010 theme is empowering our people for rural growth.
An Asian who originally came into Solomon Islands as an employee of the China United is now operating what is alleged to be an illegal bakery in Honiara.
However the National Express has learnt from credible sources within the Immigration Department that the Caretaker Immigration Minister Francis Billy Hilly had turned down a recommendation by Immigration official to deport the Asian.
“The Minister’s response when he turned down the recommendation was that he would review the case but he has done nothing about the case up until now,” our Immigration source said.
The bakery in question is known as Nature Bakery and it is located at the Ranandi industrial site in East Honiara.
The case first emerged as a health issue in March this year when following a tip, the HCC health Division investigate the bakery house and found that it did not meet the health regulations standards of the Honiara City Council (HCC).
A HCC Health Division spokesman told the National Express that after compiling a full report his Division decided to refer the matter to the Immigration Department fur further investigations.
The spokesman said that since then the Council has not heard any feedback from the Immigration Department.
A credible source from the Immigration Department has told the Express that upon further investigations they found that the owner of the bakery is one Wang Bin who came into the country as an employee of China United which is building the Town Grounds Rugby Stadium.
Our Immigration source said that the Immigration investigation found that Wang Bin was operating in breach of his work and residential permits.
The Immigration officials then sent a full report to Minister Hilly and recommended that Mr. Bin’s work and residential permits be revoked immediately and that he be deported.
When the execution documents reached Minister Hilly he said that he would review it and he has done nothing about it up until now.
For two weeks that National Express had made several attempts to secure an appointment to speak with Minister Hilly before publishing this story without success before a decision was taken to publish this story.
The Express has also been informed that Mr. Bin had some links to a former Member of Parliament and a businessman and who was previously contracted by the Sogavare led Government to fill a political appointee position in the Prime Minister’s Office.
The National Express visited the site yesterday and discovered that there were no notices or billboard in front of the Bakery house to show that this was a bread factory.
The Owner and his family looked agitated and anxious when
approached by a National Express reporter.
The Honiara City Council (HCC) Health Division told the Express that the Nature Bakery did not meet the HCC health standards but the Nature Bakery products were now being sold in many shops in Honiara.
A local business operating in the Ranandi that when the Immigration Department did nothing about Mr. Bin he was now enjoying himself in Honiara running his bakery company at Ranadi opposite Solomon Islands Electric Authority (SIEA) as if this country did not have any laws.
