Be wise custodians of this nation’s future, says Manedika

By CHARLIE SALINI

A former Provincial Assembly member of Central Province Mr Gabriel Manedika has called on Solomon Islanders to have a sense of responsibility for the future of the country.

“Everyone should be responsible and be wise custodians of the nation and its resources and acknowledge that there will be others coming behind us.

Leaders in private or public settings have responsibilities and they must be faithful to their duties. We have rules, regulations and laws that guards us and must be followed,” he said.

The future of Solomons is in the hands of the elder generation who are our current leaders that hold the future in trust for the next generation. “We cannot pretend we are the owners of the future because we are all getting old,” Manedika said.

We must nurture and guard our development and that we cannot see progress in the development of our nation when we provide services for our own personal interests.

He appeals to our leaders and all members of the leading generation to rethink on their processes and make new plans based on the concept of guardianship rather than ownership.
